the last 24 hours would be my most prolific so far. before i crashed down last night, i set myself so that i would be able to finish 3 artworks for my
"Snap-built. Just add water" gallery before i hit the bunker again. guess what? i just did 5...
yeah yeah. big deal. right?
for me it is. im a frustrated artist. i always wanted my career to go the "broke but inspired" way... but for the last 4 years i've been on the "broke and bitter-because-i-hate-my-job" hole. and since i prematurely quit my job in Shanghai last month, i was only really able to enjoy my passion this past two weeks... after i got tired of all the gimiks, gulp sessions, and foolish conviviality. sa totoo lang... wala na akong pera.
Another massive road block for me was that before, the drive to be inspired and to create would only last me a day or two. these days, i would wake up like a man on a crusade. exaggerated ba? well. that's how i feel. and sana magtuloy tuloy na. kung hindi nga lang sobrang init sa labas sarap din sana magpicture taken. halos di ko pa kasi nagagamit dslr ko dito sa pinas... langyang summer yan eh.
Anyways...the
"Snap-built, Just add water" gallery is intended to showcase works that requires minimal effort in terms of implementation. since no sane artist can really say that pulling ideas and concepts out from the hat would be 'effortless', i just thought that i'd like to do a set that would give me more time to appreciate my works and less time tinkering with photoshop. After all art need not be complicated.
so check them out. you can click on the image to view it in full size. they may not be much but i hope you'll enjoy them none the less:
first of the set. i did this last night when i was really sleepy. just when the creative juices dried out. honestly i like this the least. but hey, i still like it. after all its my work. it has a certain retro, classy, disco feel to it. i was actually planning to make a typography piece, but i cant make myself think of any concept. so this is what came out from my lack of 'idea'.
now this one's definitely got a message. may not be that visually appealing, but still its the message that counts. this is what i call concept that speaks. it's called "perspective". both on the visual style and its message about an artist's perspective. this piece is fueled by my angst... to those so called purist. well i'm not actually angry at them, i just don't like the idea. i've always believed that non-conformity inspires.

after watching two jacky chan movies, my eyes felt they need a bit of rest... but still, i just cant let go of the mouse. so i thought ill just make something real fast. something plain. something so basic it wont even cost me a sweat. and something that's eyestrain free. ahhh... a mono-toned design and a bit of typography to boot. and yeah. me like this very much.
so can you see the lady pushing the baby stroller? or maybe something else? ahhhhh the wonders of art.
i opened my go media vector collection. drag. opened my texture resources. drag. another one. drag again. layers... hmmm. so i played with the blend modes. and who would've guessed... it looked just like a table napkin. except its not. hell. i don't even know how i was able to make this.

i enjoyed my 3rd work so much that i just played around with the canvass again. no real concept here. just 10 minutes of 'hey lets play with some doodles'.
so that's it. feel free to use them as your wallpaper or just about anyhow you want, but please ask my permission if you intend to use them for any commercial purpose. or if will be used for a website, a presentation or for anything similar in nature, please dont forget to give proper credit. thanks!
and...linawin ko lang. am feeling artistic yung title. hindi autistic.
