the multiply header and the perpetual laziness

though my chosen base multiply theme (MOD) originally had no alloted space for a header a sudden burst of enthusiasm hit me a week ago (or was it two?) to design my own header... with the creative juices flowing like mentos and coke i started right away... then there was the movies... naruto and bleach... and my bed...

so i was able to accomplish this:

a blotch of orange and text. great. that was productive. ugly...

today... a week after, give or take a week. hey... who's keeping track of time?

still unfinished (thanks to smashing magazine for the illustration):

and there's my bed...

Drowning the Lomo Hype.

i was never someone who'd just go and jump into a bandwagon. fads and hypes were never my thing. maybe im just too much of a non-conformist. maybe im just too critical on my art. maybe. in any case... i think lomo sucks. hard eh? id like to delete that last statement but i think my backspace key just got broken...

...then i think i should just rephrase it. selling the lomo exclusivity and making the majority its consumer definitely rakes of bullshit. be different and capture shots that veers away from the 'rules' (take note of the quotes) of traditional photography. lomography tells you to express individuality, in that sense it is special, but at the same time it takes no skill at all, because in lomo a bad shot is never a bad shot. a blurred photo is not blurred... its just uhmmm...a lomo effect. right? so how can lomo be so special, when everyone else is doing it?

and then we have the word. lomo. LOMO. LOMO LOMO. by being the exact opposite of what most try to achiev...

DOA Kasumi by Max Factory 1:6 scale

Bought the figure more than a year ago, only had the chance to take photos this afternoon. i really liek her eyes. :D if you speak 'japanese'... you know what i mean. hehehehe.

all photos were taken at around 5 in the afternoon. used ambient light.

Some info on Kasumi:

Kasumi, also known as "the Kunoichi of Destiny", is a female ninja skilled in the Mugen Tenshin Style of Ninjutsu. She was to become the 18th Master of the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan, but ran away in order to enter the Dead or Alive tournament. There, she hoped to defeat Raidou, the man responsible for crippling her brother Hayate. By leaving the secretive ninja clan, she became a nukenin (runaway shinobi). This means that she must live on the run from her former comrades every day as they
seek to silence the "traitorous"
Kasumi. Eventually, Kasumi kills Raidou and wins the tournament.

Proofs of Dorkiness

A few days ago i decided to finally give my toys the well deserved 'attention' after more than two years of gathering dust. a pair of paint brushes, my gitzo rocket air, a piece of wet cloth and im off to restoring them to their former shining glory. after cleaning up, i decided to move some of them to the top shelf of my computer rack.

as i stare and admire my handiwork, i've come to realize (not that i haven't figured that out before) that on these racks of toys and MP3 players and gadget bags and accessories and game consoles and speakers and comic books and magazines and wireless things and caps and empty boxes and a few other things that emptied my pockets a few times darn too many lies the money that should have been on my bank account right now. but come to think of it... i dont have a bank account ...right now im practically broke... but still I got them and Im happy. hehehehe. most would say its a waste of money... maybe it is... but the thing is, i don't care.

now, why...

cant remember her name. hehehe. our planned shoot yesterday was canceled due to the unexpected shower. we'll be rescheduling it next week and hope that it'll be bright and cloudy by then. we don't want the day to be a total waste so we just clicked away despite the bad weather (trans: we barely had enough light to produce a decent photo). so again... its CS3 to the rescue.

Something for Ninong

something new for the grunge gallery. original photo had a winter theme, filtered the hazy forest background to make it look something like smog. added some vectors and typography to boot.

during his younger years edison (ninong to his friends) lived his share of a grunge lifestyle... no matter how you define it. he may not look like it today but he was a spirited adventurer, traveller, bmx biker, breakdancer and probably most things audacious and exciting you may think of, oh, and he was an NBI agent, working the shadows even before he graduated college. right now he resides in shanghai working as the Operations Director for a US-based outsourcing company.

Capones

Approx two weeks ago i had the chance to to visit Capones Island with Dads Noel and Malu. The moment our boat neared the rocky shores I immediately fell in love with the island... but when we reached the lighthouse clearing... i... lost my words. everything is so perfect. without question a shutterbug's haven. the landscape, the ruins, the wall textures and tones, the shadows casted by the sun thru the windows, ... everything is just spot on. ... I think I need to call Manong Jay soon.

Click here for the Zambales Road/Boat Trip Gallery

Cocoon & Ciococo

When i was still in Sh, this posh ( and by posh, i mean... never in my life that ill buy something there posh) silk garments/beddings shop asked me to take photos of their shop and their products. Back then i still don't have an SLR, just my trusty S1IS, the lighting... lets say there's much to be desired...and... sadly no real experience both in photog and pp... and the skills... just ... hhhmmm...so-so. And if you'll ask me, my shots sucked. but hey! amidst the excuses for the crappy shots, my photos graced the pages of two magazines, Men's Uno and Totally Shanghai.

anyway. cant help myself share this and just to give you an idea how insanely priced their items are...how about 150 to 250K petot for a set of silk covers for your bed?

nah. i think i'll pass.

this is probably the most spontaneous thing i have ever written... it feels like breaking a hundred shackles of pretensions. if i could pull out strings of thoughts from my mind and lay them out on paper it would definitely look like this:

I'm having a hard time believing everything you're saying. That might be true. But you can’t deny the fact that I'm right. I know you too well, as much as I know myself. And thats whats scaring you right now. And you needed someone. Now you got that someone. Later on he’ll also know you well. Maybe.

One thing that I do believe is that you did fall for someone. I know how it feels, believe me.
